Seacoast Win and First Home Game

Saturday October 5th Seacoast took on the Upper Valley Valkyries in a tightly contested match in Lebanon. Seacoast trailed at the half with a score of 10-24, answering the 4 Upper Valley tries with two of their own. Upper Valley scored again early in the second half, but Seacoast answered. The two teams traded tries again before Seacoast took control of the game, and put in another two tries, both carried by Amber Nault.

Regulation time expired with Seacoast down 4 points and a score of 30-34. But the team was able to maintain possession and avoid mistakes for several more phases, finally swinging it out to Stacy Woodley on the wing who scored the final try in the game. Laney Payne completed the conversion, yielding a final score of 37-34 with Seacoast victorious.

Summer Touch Practice

Summer touch practice has started. Every Thursday 6 to 8 pm at 34 Dover Point Road/Pointe Place.

All welcome!

We will not have touch on July 4th. Enjoy the holiday! But we will be back on July 11th for a full session.

Summer Rugby

We are playing touch every Thursday this summer! Touch rugby is a great low stress way to try out the sport and see if it might be for you. This no contact version lets players work on ball handling and positioning without the stress of full contact practices. All welcome, no experience required.

Thursday 6-8 pm

June through August

Field behind Paddy B’s in Dover NH

Directions:

Pointe Place, Dover NH

Turn onto Pointe Place road (next to Paddy B’s restaurant) and continue to the small roundabout. Take the 3rd exit (3/4 around) onto the gravel road. Continue to the parking lot and find the ruggers!

Come for one session or every week. It’s great cardio and lots of fun! Wear workout gear and cleats (sneakers are ok, but can get slippery) and bring some water. We hope to see you there!

Spring Season!

Seacoast rugby has recently completed our inaugural season with the new team. We played Charles River B Side on May 4th 2019. With very little team practice ahead of the match we had to work out how to run as a team on the fly, but put together a resounding 32-7 win. Two weeks later we took on Portland at their home pitch at Kennedy Park. After a scrappy game the final score was 32-22 to Portland. We’re looking forward to some fun sevens tournaments this summer, and full fifteens in the fall.

Spring Practices

Practices are starting next Monday March 25th! With the time change and it getting a little warmer we are excited to get outside. We have been invited to practice with the local men’s rugby team, Freedom Rugby, as we build numbers. This is a great opportunity, as it allows us to get a good practice in and help Freedom fill out numbers for drills as well. Details are:

Mondays and Thursdays
Great Island Common New Castle NH
6:00 until 7:30/8 pm (whenever we lose the light)

Bring your rugby boots (or soccer cleats, or sneakers) and a mouth guard, and dress warm – it’s pretty exposed on the point and the sea breeze is a bit chilly. No experience required – we’ll make sure you know what’s happening. Let us know if you have any questions – and we’ll hope to see you there!

Six Nations!

We’re hosting a watch party for the first Saturday of Six Nations! Come to Ri Ra Portsmouth and join the Seacoast women to experience world class rugby. Italy will take on Scotland at 9:15 and then Ireland and England face off at 11:45 AM in what might be the match of the tournament.
